ATE Calls Federal Plenary Against Labor Reform

The State Workers' Union ATE is preparing a national strike in response to the government's plans to reform labor law, which the union claims will strip workers of their rights.

ATE Calls Federal Plenary Against Labor Reform

The State Workers Association (ATE) has called a federal plenary of delegates for Tuesday, November 11, at 2:00 PM, to debate the possibility of a new measure of force in rejection of the labor reform being prepared by the government and to demand the immediate reopening of collective bargaining. The government is lying. The path we have left is to exercise our constitutional rights to demonstration and protest, stated ATE leader Rodolfo Aguiar. We have decided to convene a plenary with representatives from the entire country to evaluate the scenario that opened after the midterm elections and define a general measure of force, Aguiar added. It is true that the government achieved electoral approval, but that does not authorize it to do whatever it wants or to act outside the law and against the National Constitution, concluded the General Secretary of National ATE. The project the government is drafting would include extending the workday to 12 hours, paying compensation in installments, work agreements by company instead of by sector, salary increases based on productivity, and other points being considered. The worst is yet to come because we have a more indebted country with fewer reserves. The plenary will be held at the Eva PerĂ³n Amphitheater of the union's national headquarters, located at Avenida Belgrano 2527 (CABA).
